5 mag 2024 · Tris Speaker was an American professional baseball player and manager who spent his 22-year career (1907–28) primarily with the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Indians. Speaker and Ty Cobb are generally considered the two greatest players of this period.
Speaker earned American League MVP honors that year by finishing first in the voting for the Chalmers Award, leading the AL in on-base percentage with a mark of .464 and carrying Boston to a World Series championship. Speaker had three different hitting streaks of at least 20 games that season.
