Tippett hit his stride with Raymond Berry’s Patriots in the mid-to-late 1980s. He dominated the opposition at a time when linebackers grew bigger and faster.
Andre Tippett was one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history, spending his entire 12-year career with the Patriots. A strong-side linebacker who excelled at rushing the passer, Tippett set the record for most sacks over a two-year period with 35 in the 1984 and 1985 seasons and holds the franchise record for career sacks with 100.
The five-time Pro Bowler and 1985 NFL Defensive Player of the Year is the Patriots' all-time sacks leader and guided the team to an appearance in Super Bowl XX. Tippett is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the New England Patriots Hall of Fame.
