Masashi Hamauzu is a Japanese video game composer who was employed at Square Enix from 1996 to 2010. He is best known for his work on the Final Fantasy and SaGa series. Born into a musical family in Germany, Hamauzu was raised in Japan. He became interested in music while in kindergarten, and got piano lessons from his parents.
Masashi Hamauzu. 作曲家、編曲家。 1971年9月20日、ミュンヘン生まれ。 東京芸術大学音楽学部声楽科卒業後、株式会社スクウェア・エニックスに入社。 多彩な和声とオーケストレーションで、多くの支持を得ていく。 同社在籍時代の代表作は「ファイナルファンタジーXIII」「サガ・フロンティア2」「ファイナルファンタジーX」「アンリミテッド・サガ」「チョコボの不思議なダンジョン」「シグマ・ハーモニクス」「武蔵伝II」「ダージュオブケルベロス・ファイナルファンタジーVII」等。 2007年ピアノソロ・アルバム「Vielen Dank」をリリース。 2009年全編担当した「ファイナルファンタジーXIII」の音楽では世界的な評価を受け、サウンドトラックもオリコン初登場3位を記録。
