Pete Spence (born Elliot Larkin Ferguson; c. 1852–1914) was a small-time criminal known for his association with outlaw Cowboys Frank and Tom McLaury, and Ike and Billy Clanton, of Tombstone, Arizona Territory. Spence was also a suspect in the assassination of Morgan Earp.
Pete Spence, also known as Peter Spencer and Elliot Larkin Ferguson, was a stage robber, suspected murderer, and Clanton “cowboy,” as well as having the dubious distinction of having been thought to have been one of the killers of Morgan Earp.
Pete Spence has achieved an enviable international acclaim for much of his work in painting, experimental film, visual poetry and of course the exuberant, engaging lyric verse. He made a number of films, some screened internationally in Germany and Switzerland and festivals in Australia, with 2011 screenings in UK and Melbourne.
