Michel Brault, OQ (25 June 1928 – 21 September 2013) was a Canadian cinematographer, cameraman, film director, screenwriter, and film producer. He was a leading figure of Direct Cinema , characteristic of the French branch of the National Film Board of Canada in the 1960s.

Michel Brault was born on 25 June 1928 in Montréal, Québec, Canada. He was a cinematographer and director, known for Of Whales, the Moon, and Men (1963), Orders (1974) and Threshold (1981). He died on 21 September 2013 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
