William Churchill deMille (July 25, 1878 – March 5, 1955), also spelled de Mille or De Mille, was an American screenwriter and film director from the silent film era through the early 1930s. He was also a noted playwright prior to moving into film.
William C. De Mille served as the second president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He died on March 8, 1955. He was 76 years old.

William Churchill De Mille (1878-1955) was an American playwright, producer and director. He wrote a number of stage plays and produced them with David Belasco from 1902 to 1914 before becoming one of the pioneers of the motion picture industry.
William C. DeMille (1878-1955) was an American film director and producer. He began his career writing plays and began working in film during the silent film era. He focused his film career on adapting stage plays to silent films. He was the elder brother to Cecil B. DeMille.
