Il Deepsea Challenger (anche noto con la sigla DCV 1) è un batiscafo costruito specificamente per raggiungere il fondo del Challenger Deep, il punto più profondo della Terra. Tale obiettivo fu conseguito il 26 marzo 2012 dal regista James Cameron, che lo pilotò in solitaria, raggiungendo il fondale in 2 ore e 37 minuti. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
Trama. Voluta per un progetto scientifico che vede coinvolto il regista James Cameron, la National Geographic Society e la Rolex, l'esplorazione del punto più profondo della Fossa delle Marianne è utile per condurre una ricerca sulle profondità dell'oceano in grado di far comprendere e conoscere meglio una delle zone più sconosciute della Terra.
