Mechanic Link Byrd, Jr., is asked to repair the bus of country music star Sheb Wooley when it breaks down en route to Nashville. Link, an amateur guitarist, joins Sheb for an informal music session, and, encouraged by Sheb's secretary and agent Miss Wynn, Link decides to go to Nashville.
