When Peggy Mallory discovers that her husband Jim is not a legitimate businessman, but is secretly the head of a hijacking ring, she decides to leave him. Because Jim has Peggy drive the getaway car when the police come to arrest his gang, she becomes a fugitive and goes with him to a mountain cabin to hide.

The owner of a trucking company is secretly the mastermind of a homicidal hijacking ring. When he is nearly arrested and kills one of the cops, he tricks his wife into driving the getaway car. She then (somehow) escapes the gang and masquerades as a cook for a handsome eccentric philosopher artist who lives in the country.
