The Fairy and the Waif is a 1915 silent drama film directed by Marie Hubert Frohman and George Irving. This was the first feature-length film of actress Mary Miles Minter, who was twelve years old by the time of the release, although she had previously appeared in the 1912 short The Nurse (1912 film) under the name Juliet Shelby.

Marie Hubert Frohman. Director, Writer. George Irving. Director. Viola Drayton (Minter) has a fascination for fairies, but real life intervenes when her father, a colonel (W.T. Carleton), is called off to the European War (that's what they called World War I in early 1915).
Terrified, when, dressed as a fairy, she is lifted to a cloud, Viola runs away and meets a waif sleeping in a barrel, who thinks that she is a real fairy and saves her from freezing. When word arrives that Drayton is alive, the Nevinsons offer a reward for Viola's recovery.
