7 mar 2023 · The movie ‘My Sailor, My Love’, which was filmed on location in Achill and surrounding areas in the autumn of 2021, will go on general release in Ireland on Friday 10th March. The film is a Finnish-Irish-Danish co-production, directed by Finn Klaus Härö and written by Jimmy Karlson and Kirsi Vikman.

Howard (James Cosmo) is a widowed sailor living alone on the coast of Ireland and struggling to care for himself. His daughter, Grace (Catherine Walker), hires Annie (Bríd Brennan) to help out around the house.

3 mar 2023 · My Sailor, My Love, the Klaus Härö movie that was filmed on Achill Island, Currane and neighbouring parts of Mayo, was featured on RTÉ Radio 1’s Arena programme on 2nd March. The film’s two main actors, James Cosmo and Bríd Brennan, spoke at length about the movie and filming in Achill.
SYNOPSIS. Concerned for the welfare of her irascible father, a retired sea captain, harried nurse Grace hires local widow Annie as his housekeeper. When the pair embark on an unexpected romance, Grace is forced to face the feelings of resentment and hostility she’s harbored since childhood.
