When My Baby Smiles at Me is a 1948 American musical film directed by Walter Lang and starring Betty Grable and Dan Dailey. Released by 20th Century Fox, it is the third film based on the popular 1927 Broadway play Burlesque, the others being The Dance of Life (1929) and Swing High, Swing Low (1937).
When My Baby Smiles at Me: Directed by Walter Lang. With Betty Grable, Dan Dailey, Jack Oakie, June Havoc. Vaudeville performers, Dailey and Grable, have marital difficulties when he hits the "Big Time", which are compounded by his drinking problem.

Betty Grable was the Queen of Fox musicals and the Queen of Technicolor! When My Baby Smiles At Me is a terrific movie with one of her favorite costars - Dan Daily. They sing, they dance, they fight. There are a ton of great songs and beautiful costumes. It's a fun musical romance and if you're a Betty fan you'll enjoy watching it :-)

Synopsis by Hal Erickson. Betty Grable and Dan Dailey play a couple of small-time vaudevillians, at least until Dailey gets a big Broadway break. Success swells his head to cataclysmic dimensions; he becomes an alcoholic, loses his stardom and winds up in the drunk ward.
