The Woman Who Dared (French title: Le Ciel est à vous) (English: The Sky is Yours) is a 1944 French drama film directed by Jean Grémillon and starring Madeleine Renaud and Charles Vanel. In April 2019, a restored version of the film was selected to be shown in the Cannes Classics section at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival .
It's immediately evident why Jean Grémillon's The Woman Who Dared was such a popular, successful film. It's an underdog victory story, centered on a working class couple whose loving, matter-of-fact resilience must have been both relatable and inspirational to a nation suffering under Nazi occupation.

This French film entitled in English THE WOMAN WHO DARED has the original title of LE CIEL EST A VOUS (THE SKY IS YOURS). A screen card at the beginning of the original version says it is based on real events which took place in 1937, though no one seems to know what those were.
