Broken Strings is a 1940 American race film, directed by Bernard B. Ray and produced by L.C. Borden. It has been described as "the all-black version of The Jazz Singer".

Broken Strings plot. Arthur Williams is an excellent violinist who loses a hand in a car accident and is doomed to work as a teacher. His son Walter also plays the violin but prefers jazz. This leads to big quarrels in the family, as the father does not like jazz music.
