Darklands is a British horror film written and directed by Julian Richards, starring Craig Fairbrass, Jon Finch, Rowena King, which was released in 1997. [2] [3] Richards wrote the screenplay after attending the Beltane Fire Festival in Edinburgh. It was produced by Paul Brooks at Metrodome Films.

After a long dispute over the rights, DARKLANDS was also able to be released in the USA in 2012 - Richards had unceremoniously founded his own distributor and bought back the film.
Julian Richards’ Darklands (1996) occupies an important place in British cinema history as the first home-grown Welsh horror film. Despite this, and some awards success (including a Méliès d’argent [1] ), critical response in the UK was largely negative.
