Bram Fischer (also titled An Act of Defiance) is a 2017 film about South African lawyer Bram Fischer who defended Nelson Mandela and his co-defendants at the Rivonia Trial of 1963–1964. The film was directed by Jean van de Velde and was featured in several film festivals. [1]

Ten activists were arrested who would later stand trial in the Rivonia case. Lawyer Bram Fischer was a regular guest at the farm, but he happened to not be present at the time of the raid.

In this riveting historical drama, 10 political activists (including Nelson Mandela and his inner circle of Black and Jewish supporters) face a possible death sentence for conspiracy to commit sabotage after they are arrested by the apartheid South African government during a raid in the town of Rivonia during the summer of 1963.
