The Girl from Fano (German: Das Mädchen von Fanö) is a 1941 German drama film directed by Hans Schweikart and starring Brigitte Horney, Joachim Gottschalk and Gustav Knuth. The film is based on a novel by Günther Weisenborn and is set amongst the fishing community of the Danish island of Fanø.
The Girl from Fano. The Danish fishermen Frerk and Ipke fight a heavy storm offshore Fano harbour. They finally manage to reach the shore where they recover from the strains of their last tour before they are able to return to their home in far away Hooge. During their stay, they meet a cute girl, Pat. Both men fall in love with her.

Il 24 marzo 2014 la DreamWorks acquista i diritti del romanzo e annuncia il progetto in co-produzione con la Marc Platt Productions.A gennaio 2015 Erin Cressida Wilson è stata ingaggiata per scrivere la sceneggiatura per il film. A maggio 2015 Tate Taylorè stato assunto per dirigere la pellicola. Il budget del film è stato di 45 milioni di dollari.
La pellicola è stata distribuita nelle sale cinematografiche statunitensi a partire dal 7 ottobre 2016,mentre nelle sale italiane a partire dal 3 novembre dello stesso anno.
