COOL FROM THE SPEEDWAY: In celebration of one of hard rock’s most revered underground bands, Dirty Looks did the seemingly impossible on Sept. 18, 2021, when they regrouped at Selinsgrove Speedway in their old stomping grounds of Pennsylvania to perform songs from their classic 1988 album “Cool From the Wire” and its 1989 follow-up, “Turn of the Screw.”
Dirty Looks is an American hard rock band of members primarily from Erie, Pennsylvania, United States. Although the principal members had been in an earlier band together in Pennsylvania, they met up to form Dirty Looks in San Francisco, California, in 1984.
For their major label debut, Dirty Looks consisted of Paul Lidel (guitar), Jack Pyers (bass) and Gene Barnett (drums). The resulting album, Cool From The Wire in 1988, entered the Billboard chart, while getting substantial airplay on MTV for their video for the song “Oh Ruby”.
