Wayne Lyman Morse (October 20, 1900 – July 22, 1974) was an American attorney and United States Senator from Oregon. Morse is well known for opposing the Democratic Party ’s leadership and for his opposition to the Vietnam War on constitutional grounds.

In 1968, Morse, a resolute critic of the war in Vietnam, lost his Senate seat to Robert Packwood by less than 3,000 votes. He died six years later in the midst of a campaign to regain that seat. This blunt-spoken, iconoclastic populist is remembered today with many colorful stories.
