Ammiraglio e uomo politico greco (isola di Idra 1885 - Atene 1935); durante le guerre balcaniche fece subire alla flotta turca due gravi sconfitte. Ministro della Marina (1915-16 e 1917-19), fu reggente (1920 e 1923-24), poi presidente provvisorio della repubblica; si dimise durante la dittatura di Pàngalos (1925).
Il 24 giugno 1925, gli ufficiali leali a Pangalos, temendo per l'instabilità politica che stava ponendo a rischio lo Stato greco, decisero di rovesciare il governo in carica con un colpo di stato e costrinsero il presidente Paulos Kountouriōtīs a nominare Pangalos come primo ministro.
Paulos Kountouriotis. ΠΑΥΛΟΣ ΚΟΥΝΤΟΥΡΙΩΤΗΣ. Ο Παύλος Κουντουριώτης γεννήθηκε στην Ύδρα τον Απρίλιο του 1855. Ήταν γιος του Θεοδώρου Κουντουριώτη, γιου του πρώην Πρωθυπουργού της Ελλάδας, Γεωργίου Κουντουριώτη. Παντρεύτηκε δύο φορές. Στον Λονδίνο το 1889 την Αγγελική Πετροπούλου και στην Αθήνα το 1918 την Ελένη Κούππα.
