Ralph Tyler Smith (October 6, 1915 – August 13, 1972) was an American lawyer and politician from Illinois, who served as a United States Senator from Illinois from 1969 until 1970.
14 ago 1972 · ALTON, Ill., Aug. 13 (AP)— Ralph Tyler Smith, who served in the Senate after the death of Senator Everett McKinley Dirksen, died today at his home. He was 57 years old.
Republican Ralph Tyler Smith had been appointed to fill the seat after Dirksen's death, and he lost the special election to Democrat Adlai Stevenson III.
