James Hepburn, I duca di Orkney e marchese di Fife, ma più noto col titolo ereditario di IV conte di Bothwell o semplicemente come Bothwell (Edimburgo, 1534 circa – Dragsholm, 14 aprile 1578), fu lord grand'ammiraglio di Scozia e re consorte di Scozia, come terzo marito della regina Maria Stuarda.

James Hepburn, 1st Duke of Orkney and 4th Earl of Bothwell ( c. 1534 – 14 April 1578), better known simply as Lord Bothwell, was a prominent Scottish nobleman. He was known for his marriage to Mary, Queen of Scots, as her third and final husband.
In February, Bothwell was the chief instigator of the murder of Darnley. On 7 May he was divorced, on 12 May created duke of Orkney, and on 15 May married Mary at Holyrood palace. Outraged at his elevation, his enemies confronted him.
