David Bruce Vitter (born May 3, 1961) is an American politician, attorney, and lobbyist who served as a United States Senator from Louisiana from 2005 to 2017. A member of the Republican Party, Vitter served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1999 and in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1999 to 2005.

David Vitter (b. May 3, 1961, in New Orleans, LA) is a former Republican member of the U.S. Senate from the state of Louisiana. Vitter served from 2005 to 2017. Vitter ran for governor of Louisiana in 2015. He lost to State Rep. John Bel Edwards (D) in the November 21 runoff. Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) was ineligible to run because of term limits.
