Attivo alla Berliner Volksbühne (1923-27) e al Theater am Nollendorfplatz, detto Piscatorbühne (1927-29); abbandonò nel 1931 la Germania e dopo una lunga permanenza in Russia (1931-36) fu a Parigi e a New York (dove ebbe come allievi A.
