Andrew Bell (St Andrews, 27 marzo 1753 – Cheltenham, 27 gennaio 1832) è stato un prete anglicano scozzese e pedagogo, che diffuse il Sistema di Educazione di Madras (Madras System of Education), conosciuta anche come "mutuo insegnamento" nelle scuole, e fondò il Madras College, una scuola secondaria a St. Andrews.
La paternità del mutuo insegnamento è dovuta a due educatori inglesi, Andrew Bell (1753-1832) e Joseph Lancaster (1778-1838), che ebbero, indipendentemente l’uno dall’altro, la medesima intuizione: quella di avvalersi degli allievi già alfabetizzati per aiutare i principianti.

BELL, Andrew. Educatore scozzese, nato nel 1753 a Saint Andrews, morto a Cheltenham il 27 gennaio 1832. Laureatosi all'università di St. Andrews, si recò come insegnante nella Virginia, rimanendovi alcuni anni. Tornato in patria e presi gli ordini sacri, fu inviato come cappellano militare in India.
