Generale (Bernburg 1568 - ivi 1630); di educazione luterana, si accostò nel 1592 al calvinismo, che più tardi (1605) decretò confessione ufficiale del principato di Anhalt-Bernburg. Formatosi durante le guerre di religione in Francia, fu poi il capo militare dell'Unione protestante.
