Mehmed V (محمد الخامس in arabo, detto Reşad o Reşat o Reshid Effendi; Istanbul, 2 novembre 1844 – Istanbul, 3 luglio 1918) fu il trentacinquesimo sultano dell'Impero ottomano e il novantanovesimo califfo dell'Islam.
Mehmed V Reşâd (Ottoman Turkish: محمد خامس, romanized: Meḥmed-i ḫâmis; Turkish: V. Mehmed or Mehmed Reşad; 2 November 1844 – 3 July 1918) was the penultimate sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1909 to 1918.
Mehmed V was an Ottoman sultan from 1909 to 1918, whose reign was marked by the absolute rule of the Committee of Union and Progress and by Turkey’s defeat in World War I. Having lived in seclusion most of his life, Mehmed Reşad became sultan after his brother Abdülhamid II was forced to abdicate.
