Ernst Johann von Biron (German: Ernst Johann von Biron; Russian: Эрнст Иоганн Бирон; (German: Bühren); 23 November [O.S. 13 November] 1690 – 29 December [O.S. 18 December] 1772) was a Duke of Courland and Semigallia (1737–1740 and 1763–1769) and briefly regent of the Russian Empire in 1740.

Ernst Johann, Reichsgraf von Biron was a German adventurer who became Duke of Courland and chief adviser to the Russian empress Anna (reigned 1730–40); he exercised extraordinary influence over Russian affairs during a period that became known as Bironovshchina.

Di nobile ma non illustre famiglia, divenne il favorito di Anna Ivanovna, duchessa di Curlandia, poi zarina di Russia, e ne diresse tutta l'azione politica. Nel 1737 fu creato duca di Curlandia. Ambiziosissimo, riuscì a conquistare un enorme potere.
