Svante Nilsson ( c. 1460 – 2 January 1512) was a Swedish nobleman and regent of Sweden from 1504 to 1512. He was the father of Sten Sture the Younger (1493–1520), who later served as regent of Sweden during the era of the Kalmar Union .

Regent Sten was succeeded by his colleague from the Privy Council and former enemy Svante Nilsson, of the Natt och Dag family, as regent. Svante Nilsson's son and successor, Sten Sture the Younger, later chose to adapt the Sture name for political purposes, despite only being distantly related.

Biografi. Svante Nilsson (Sture) föddes omkring 1460 på Penningby som son till riksrådet, hövitsmannen och riddaren Nils Bosson Sture (Natt och Dag) (ca 34) och Birgitta Bonde (ca 21). Svantes far var av ätten Natt och Dag men han tog sin mors efternamn Sture.
