Johannes (Hans) Carolus Clevers (born 27 March 1957) is a Dutch molecular geneticist, cell biologist and stem cell researcher. He became the Head of Pharma, Research and Early Development, and a member of the Corporate Executive Committee, of the Swiss healthcare company Roche in 2022.
Hans Clevers is Head of pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) of Roche, Basel Switzerland, since March 2022. He was group leader at the Hubrecht Institute from 2002 until March 2022 and currently he is advisor/guest researcher at the Hubrecht Institute.
Hans Clevers is a Distinguished Professor at Utrecht University and guest scientist/advisor at the Hubrecht Institute (KNAW). He is also guest scientist/advisor of the Princess Máxima Center for pediatric oncology and Oncode Investigator.

Hans Clevers became famous with his stem-cell research into healthy and sick intestines. The inner coating of the intestine, the epithelium, is renewed once every 4-5 days. At the same time, intestinal stem cells produce new cells at a high rate.
