John Ernest Walker (Halifax, 7 gennaio 1941) è un chimico britannico, premio Nobel per la chimica nel 1997 insieme a Paul Delos Boyer per le scoperte riguardo al meccanismo enzimatico di sintesi dell'ATP; e a Jens Christian Skou che scoprì la prima pompa sodio-potassio.
Sir John Ernest Walker FRS FMedSci (born 7 January 1941) is a British chemist who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1997. As of 2015 Walker is Emeritus Director and Professor at the MRC Mitochondrial Biology Unit in Cambridge, and a Fellow of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1997 was divided, one half jointly to Paul D. Boyer and John E. Walker "for their elucidation of the enzymatic mechanism underlying the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP)" and the other half to Jens C. Skou "for the first discovery of an ion-transporting enzyme, Na+, K+ -ATPase"
