Frank Albert Cotton FRS (April 9, 1930 – February 20, 2007) was an American chemist. He was the W.T. Doherty-Welch Foundation Chair and Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Texas A&M University .
Cotton was scientifically active until his death and published more than 1600 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He served on numerous advisory panels and was a vociferous advocate of support for basic scientific research. Cotton was also a brilliant scientific educator.
