Sir William Lawrence Bragg, CH, OBE, MC, FRS (31 March 1890 – 1 July 1971) was an Australian-born British physicist and X-ray crystallographer, discoverer (1912) of Bragg's law of X-ray diffraction, which is basic for the determination of crystal structure.
W. Lawrence Bragg, who had been elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1921, was Director of the National Physical Laboratory in 1937-1938 and Cavendish Professor of Experimental Physics, Cambridge, from 1938 to 1953. He was Chairman of the Frequency Advisory Committee from 1958 to 1960.

William Lawrence Bragg’s work during the war earned him a Military Cross. His work on the X-ray earned him and his father a joint Nobel Prize in Physics, which he was awarded while still in France with the British army, at just 25 years-old. The win was bittersweet for the father-son pair, however.
