Chen Ning Yang was born on September 22, 1922, in Hofei, Anwhei, China, the first of five children of Ke Chuan Yang and Meng Hwa Loh Yang. He is also known as Frank or Franklin.

Chen Ning Yang, Chinese-born American theoretical physicist who, with Tsung-Dao Lee, won the 1957 Nobel Prize for Physics for various studies in particle physics. Notably, the two men conducted research showing that parity is violated when certain elementary particles decay.
