Norman Foster Ramsey Jr. (Washington, 27 agosto 1915 – Wayland, 4 novembre 2011) è stato un fisico statunitense, vincitore, insieme a Wolfgang Paul e Hans Dehmelt, del premio Nobel per la fisica nel 1989, per «l'invenzione del metodo dei campi oscillatori separati e il suo utilizzo nel maser ad idrogeno e in altri orologi atomici».
Norman Foster Ramsey Jr. (August 27, 1915 – November 4, 2011) was an American physicist who was awarded the 1989 Nobel Prize in Physics for the invention of the separated oscillatory field method (see Ramsey interferometry), which had important applications in the construction of atomic clocks.
The Nobel Prize in Physics 1989 was divided, one half awarded to Norman F. Ramsey "for the invention of the separated oscillatory fields method and its use in the hydrogen maser and other atomic clocks", the other half jointly to Hans G. Dehmelt and Wolfgang Paul "for the development of the ion trap technique"
