La Nuova Università di Lisbona è stata fondata nel 1973, risultando essere la più giovane università pubblica di Lisbona, nel quadro di una più ampia politica di espansione e rinnovamento dell'alta formazione nel Portogallo.
NOVA University Lisbon achieved the highest score of A (Very Good) in 14 indicators of the global U-Multirank 2022, and is thus ranked 7th among young European universities. The Leiden Ranking analyses the scientific performance of more than 1000 universities worldwide.
Founded in 1973, NOVA is the youngest public university in the Lisbon metropolitan area, with teaching units in Lisbon, Almada, Oeiras, and soon in Cascais. Its nine academic units constitute an incontestable cultural, artistic, academic and technological resource.
