Arnold Houbraken ( Dordrecht, 28 marzo 1660 – Amsterdam, 14 ottobre 1719) è stato un pittore e scrittore olandese, principalmente ricordato per le sue biografie di artisti del Secolo d'oro olandese .
Arnold Houbraken painted mythological and religious paintings, portraits and landscapes. He is best known for the art historical work The Great Theatre of Dutch Painters (1718–1721). When he died his son Jacob assisted his mother with the last proofs of the manuscript before publishing.

Arnold Houbraken (born March 28, 1660, Dordrecht, Holland—died Oct. 14, 1719, Amsterdam) was a Dutch painter and art writer noted for his three-volume biographical study of Netherlandish painters, De groote Schouburgh der Nederlantsche Konstschilders en Schilderessen (1718–21).

Overview. Art writer, painter, draughtsman, engraver, book illustrator. At the age of nine, Houbraken became an assistant in the shop of the Dordrecht merchant in twine, Johannes de Haan. His patron, being himself trained in painting by Nicolaes Maes (1634-1693), gave the young boy the opportunity to copy drawings and prints.
