Adriaen van Ostade (born Dec. 10, 1610, Haarlem, Neth.—buried May 2, 1685, Haarlem) was a painter and printmaker of the Baroque period known for his genre pictures of Dutch peasant life. He also did religious subjects, portraits, and landscapes.

13 mag 2015 · Adriaen van Ostade. Adriaen van Ostade (1610-1685) lived and worked in Haarlem his entire life. He may have been apprenticed to Frans Hals together with Adriaen Brouwer. The latter’s influence is discernable in Van Ostade's early paintings.
