Adolf de Meyer, anche Adolphe de Meyer (Parigi, 3 settembre 1868 – Los Angeles, 6 gennaio 1946), è stato un fotografo francese. Divenne famoso in tutto il mondo per i suoi eleganti ritratti fotografici di persone famose.
19 nov 2019 · Primo fotografo di Vogue dal 1914 al 1921 e in seguito di Harper’s Bazaar fino al 1937 quando l’imporsi della fotografia modernista e dei regimi totalitari lo confinarono a Los Angels dove finì i suoi giorni ritraendo i divi cinematografici.
Con la Seconda Guerra Mondiale il Barone De Meyer (aveva ricevuto il titolo nobiliare da Edoardo VII) si trasferì ad Hollywood, limitando la sua vita sfrenata e continuando a fare il ritrattista. Morì nel 1946 e venne definitò da Cecil Beaton “Il Debussy della fotografia”.

De Meyer was the preeminent photographer of Vaslav Nijinsky and the Ballets Russes, and a dedicated and skilled pioneer in the use of the autochrome process of color photography. A master of fashion photography and society portraiture, he captured an elegant and leisured world which vanished with World War II.
