Biografia. Apparteneva ad una grande famiglia di artisti: furono pittori anche il nonno Noël, il padre Antoine e lo zio Noël-Nicolas. Fu inoltre un abile politico e, vivendo sempre a Parigi, raggiunse le più alte cariche dell'Amministrazione artistica. Entrò all'Accademia reale di pittura e scultura nel 1715 e ne divenne direttore nel 1747.
Charles-Antoine Coypel (French pronunciation: [ʃaʁl ɑ̃twan kwapɛl]; 11 July 1694 – 14 June 1752) was a French painter, art critic, and playwright. He became court painter to the French king and director of the Académie Royale.
Pittore e scrittore (Parigi 1694 - ivi 1752), figlio di Antoine. Noto come pittore di cartoni (storie di don Chisciotte) per gli arazzi dei Gobelins, fu anche ritrattista. Scrisse un discorso sulla pittura (1732) e compose diverse commedie, tra cui Les folies de Cardenio (1720).
