Known for. Breton dictionary, Breton grammar, Mari Vorgan, Nenn Jani. Louis-Paul Némo (18 November 1900 – 29 June 1978), better known by the pseudonym Roparz Hemon, was a Breton author and scholar of Breton expression. He was the author of numerous dictionaries, grammars, poems and short stories.
Roparz Hemon, à l'état-civil Louis Paul Némo, né le 18 novembre 1900 à Brest et mort le 29 juin 1978 à Dublin (Irlande), était un linguiste, romancier, journaliste et poète français de langue bretonne, actif dans le mouvement breton, impliqué dans la collaboration pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
Roparz Hemon, Jakez Riou, Youenn Drezen, and Abeozen (pseudonym of Fañch Elies)—the founders of Gwalarn—were among the most successful and prolific authors of the period. From Hemon’s Pirc’hirin ar mor (1943; “A Pilgrim to the Sea”) may be dated the awakening of a new poetry.
