Si è utilizzato il Kodachrome per le diapositive ed il cinema a passo ridotto super 8 e 16 mm, l'Ektachrome prevalentemente per le diapositive e l'Eastmancolor (anch'esso Kodak) per il cinema professionale. All'Ektachrome si affiancavano anche altre pellicole simili come il Fujichrome e l'Agfachrome.
