Jacques Offenbach, nato Jakob Levy Eberscht ( Colonia, 20 giugno 1819 – Parigi, 5 ottobre 1880 ), è stato un compositore e violoncellista tedesco naturalizzato francese . Hoffmann, who is the protagonist of the story. It was Offenbach's final work; he died in October 1880, four months before the premiere.
