The legality of pornography has three components: legality of production, legality of sale and transportation, and legality of ownership. In general, animal pornography is legal to produce where both zoophilic activity and the creation of pornography in general are legal. Laws concerning sale, transmission and ownership vary more widely.
Bestiality is a sexual act with an animal, such as sexual intercourse or oral sex. It is a relatively uncommonly prosecuted offence. A freedom of information request to the Ministry of Justice confirmed that between 2007 and 2016, just 27 people in England and Wales were convicted of bestiality.

Though the legal response to bestiality has largely been punitive, the motivations for such regulation have changed over time.

19 giu 2013 · Given that the EU has been very vocal on animal welfare issues, it would seem appropriate for the EU to intervene and introduce some common EU‑wide rules to illegalise bestiality and animal pornography and ensure that animals are adequately protected, as they are in my own Member State.
