At Downe House we are committed to boarding as a way of life, one that gives your daughter the time and space to develop at her own pace, to discover new interests and untapped talents and to form deep, supportive bonds within the boarding community.
Downe House School is an independent girls' boarding and day school in Cold Ash near Newbury, Berkshire, for girls aged 11–18. Entrance is selective, and the school has an enrolment of 559.
Downe House is a fully active school every day of the week, including evenings and weekends, and every day looks different for every girl, whether they are boarding or day pupils. Downe House life offers warmth, excitement and opportunity.

Our Upper School houses represent one of the most rewarding phases of boarding school life. Girls joining us at 13+ will move into one of the five Upper School houses alongside the current pupils who have progressed through the Lower School .
