On 22 November 1997, at the age of 37, Hutchence was found dead in his room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in the Double Bay suburb of Sydney. His cause of death was recorded as suicide by hanging. Actress Kym Wilson, who visited Hutchence in his hotel room the previous evening, was the last person to see him alive.
