As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 25,326, an increase of 2,482 (+10.9%) from the 2010 census count of 22,844, which in turn reflected an increase of 2,135 (+10.3%) from the 20,709 counted in the 2000 census.
A Jersey era nato, ed era stato governatore per molti anni, sir George Carteret (1610-1680), che insieme a sir John Berkeley fondò la colonia.
