La décapitation désigne la séparation de la tête et du corps. Elle peut survenir de manière accidentelle ou volontaire ( exécution ). Dans ce second cas, elle est usuellement réalisée à l'aide d’un « tranche-tête » ( couteau, épée, sabre, hache ou guillotine ).
