Il gruppo comprendeva i chitarristi Charlie Ellerbee e Bern Nix, il bassista Jamaaladeen Tacuma e i batteristi Ronald Shannon Jackson e Denardo Coleman, figlio di Ornette Coleman. Tacuma era ancora al liceo quando Coleman lo arruolò e registrò per la prima volta con i Prime Time nel 1975 per l'album Body Meta , che fu pubblicato nel 1978 . [6]

Father 2 sculptor, Melvin Edwards. Started playing the drums at 6. By 10 was in Rudy Van Gelder’s studio recording a trio record with my father and Charlie Haden (The Empty Foxhole, Blue Note).
The album features Coleman's untutored violin and trumpet as well as performing on his usual instrument, the alto saxophone, and marks the recording debut of his drummer son Denardo Coleman, who was ten years of age at the time. The album cover features Coleman's own artwork.
