Don Sickler (January 6, 1944) is an American jazz trumpeter, arranger and producer. In the 1980s, he set up a tribute band called Dameronia with Philly Joe Jones, to play the music of Tadd Dameron. He also worked extensively with Joe Henderson, a collaboration leading to four Grammy awards.
Biography. About Don. Born 6 January 1944, Spokane, Washington, USA. As a very small child, Sickler studied piano with his mother who was a music teacher. At the age of 10, he took up the trumpet and two years later formed a jazz band. At the age of 13, he was leading an augmented band for school and college dances.

Dameronia was the name of a bebop jazz ensemble founded by Don Sickler and Philly Joe Jones in the 1980s that featured the original compositions and arrangements of Tadd Dameron. They recorded three albums, two for Uptown Records and the other for Soul Note Records , [2] and continued to perform even after Jones' death in 1985.
Don is the musical director of the yearly Thelonious Monk International Jazz Instrumental Competition for the Thelonious Monk Institute. He is also the Associate Producer for the acclaimed Jazz Icons DVD series.
